Class Descriptions

Basics/Level 1

This class is generally a lower level class teaching the fundamentals of standing poses and alignment. Poses are held longer and is a great way to build stamina and strength. Seated postures and hip openers end this well rounded practice.

Vinyasa

This class is designed to create heat, strength and stamina while coordinating breath and movement. Each sequence in a Vinyasa yoga class builds upon the previous, evolving into deeper, more advanced postures as the practice unfolds. The entire practice culminates with a deep sense of mindfulness, self-connection and ease.

Yin Yoga

Yin Yoga uses floor-based postures held for prolonged periods of time to nourish the fascial tissues of the body and stimulate the deeper energetic channels in the body. Mindfulness meditation techniques and breathwork are used to create a sense of awareness and relaxation in the mind and body.

Sculpt

Sculpt is a dynamic movement practice that incorporates resistance interval training, adding light weights & cardio. Building heat and toning all the major muscle groups making your bones strong. Challenging your balance, stretching, pausing and always ending in savasana.

Slow play. This Level 1 class is designed to help you approach breath and movement in a fresh, feel good way. Props are encouraged.

Iyengar

Iyengar Yoga is a style of yoga created by B.K.S Iyengar. It’s an alignment based practice and gives specific instructions and modifications for the students to be able to feel comfortable in each pose.

This type of practice develops and cultivates strength, endurance, stability, awareness, and flexibility while emphasizing correct body alignment in each posture.

The specific use of props such as blankets, blocks, belts, and even the wall will help individualize and modify the asana according to the student’s need, and therefore has a therapeutic effect for the practitioner.

Intermediate/VinYin

VinYin is the perfect marriage of vinyasa and yin yoga. The first half is progressively working towards a “peak” pose while  coordinating breath and movement. The second half is deep, long held postures that are usually seated and/or hip openers. You will leave feeling energized and balanced.

Therapeutics

Therapeutic postures and sequences linked together with breath and a slow rhythm safely building heat to lengthen and strengthen muscle, bone and connective tissue throughout the body. Using conscious movement to recognize and correct movement patterns, engaging the mind for deep relaxation.

New to adding some resistance training to your Yoga practice? You can begin with minimal weight and progress. Playing with props, sliding and building heat with breath. This class is a level 1/2 but be prepared to feel a little burn and leave feeling revived and refreshed after savasana to start your day.

Philosophy Talk

Why do we practice?

Let us discuss the empowering, uplifting philosophy of yoga that will inspire your practice and align your efforts with goals worthy of pursuing. Drawing from both our personal experiences of life as well as ancient  texts from the Yoga tradition (Vedas, Upanishads, Tantras, Yoga Sutra), Buddhist tradition and other spiritual philosophies, we will set out to answer the deepest questions: who are we really? Why are we here? Why do we practice?

This interactive class will feature some light meditation, a Socratic-style lecture on a specific spiritual topic as well as a Q&A/debate in the end.

Punk Rock Dharma Talk

Lively banter, seated wisdom from the trenches, open hearted swaps, mini meditations, intentional living and philosophy prompts to build resiliency, humility, integrity and compassion.
