Shilo Nelson

Shilo is a professor and Department Chair of Kinesiology at a Southern California community college in Los Angeles. She has been in the fitness industry since the mid-90s as a nationally certified personal trainer, group fitness instructor, and yoga instructor. Along with leading others in their yoga practice, she teaches cardio kickboxing, group cycling, strength and conditioning formats, and boot-camp. Shilo is a 500-RYT with YogaWorks. She holds several yoga teacher training specialties such as 25-hour Yin Yoga Teacher Training -Yoga World Heart, Restorative Yoga Teacher Training –YogaWorks, and an 80-hour Yoga Pre/Post Natal Yoga Teacher Training-Yoga Family Health.  

Shilo received her Bachelor of Science degree in Exercise Science from Eastern Washington University in Cheney, Washington.  After graduation she worked for a major health club chain as a Group Fitness Coordinator and personal trainer.  Eager to educate other fitness enthusiast she moved to California to pursue a post graduate degree in kinesiology from California State University, Northridge.  After receiving her Master of Science degree in kinesiology, Shilo began working as a certifying group fitness and kickboxing specialist with the Aerobic Fitness Association of America (AFAA) certifying instructors across the country. She also formerly worked as an Area Promotions Director in Los Angeles for Powder Blue Productions certifying instructors in Chalene Johnson's Turbo Kick and PiYo formats.

Important aspects in Shilo’s life that keep her grounded and motivated are her commitment to an active and healthy lifestyle, a meditative practice, and of course her personal yoga practice.
